Last fall, Desillusion magazine followed Trevor on a journey around Brooklyn and New York City. The short documentary shows the city, its people, music and art scene out of Trouble’s very own perspective, while sharing his vision of life and the board sports culture. “This is Trouble” captures some unique and intriguing footage of a personality and creative mind, inspired by snowboarding and rock’n’roll.

The movie introduces the 1st issue of Desillusion magazine’s new Guest Editor series to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Trevor Andrew, who has been part of the Nixon family for many years, will make the debut of this line of six special issues, dedicated to some of the main characters of the board sports, art and music culture that inspired Desillusion magazine for the last decade.

Super Amigos go Balls Out

Last night the Masters of Metal, guardians of glam, Steel Panther took to the stage at the Commadore Ballroom to play their first of two sold out shows. This being awesome in itself (if you haven't heard or seen these guys you are missing out), what made it even better was the fact that Mountain Madness Mondays' resident DJ, Dana D, was the opening act. Thats right a DJ opened for the biggest hair band on the planet.

It was a true rock experience for the Super Amigos. From hitting sound check and meeting the dudes in the band, to being on stage in front of a sold out venue. And i don't think anyone would expect a DJ at a metal show.

The D man delivered hit after head banging hit and got the crowd ready to rock. Even ELdjLOCO got in on the act, playing the roll of roadie and delivering refreshments on stage to the delight of the capacity crowd.

What could make this once in lifetime experience better? How about doing it again tonight for the second sold out show!

Happy New Year!!!

Hope everybody had a safe and Happy Holidays. I bet there were lots of new gear being tested out on the slopes. We here at Mountain Madness celebrated with our Boxing Day Bash and invited our good friend DJ Knowledge (resident at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas). With no help from our so called "sponsor" of the night, we manage to throw down one of the best Mountain Madness Mondays to date. The club was packed till closing and the Mash Up king did what he does best, rocked the F$*K out of the club. One lucky lady, she was so excited, won a trip to Las Vegas including airfare, hotel and bottle service at RPM nightclub.

You see, it all went down like this...
11:09am - Director Sean Davis calls to say his in Everett and on his way to the border crossing.

3:00pm - Sean calls again. They won't let him over the border into Canada(and he has the film)

4:30pm. - I leave to meet Sean in Blaine Wash. My Mission. Grab the movie and prizes and get back to Vancouver

5:50pm - I work my magic with the US Customs agent and he allows me passage into America. I quickly locate Sean and his rental Car at the Chevron. We packed the contraban into m=the trunk of my Mom's car and peace out.

6:25pm - I tried not to look guilty as I am grilled by the Canadian Border Gaurd. After about 30 seconds, and with a supisious lift the brow the guard says "Welcome Home."

Fresh off the blogosphere, a new snowboarding video from those crazy Euros at www.helgasons.com.

Sexual Snowboarding features more rails than a Charlie Sheen house party. It's not as glossy as most of the videos being made by the new school art film geeks that you''re probably used to. It looks like every type of capture medium was used from Cell phones to DSLR. To me it harkens back to the shred videos of old with fast cuts and great bail action. Overall There is some gnarly footage and some amazing tricks being pulled on large variety of urban features. The soundtrack keeps the show flowing.

On Monday, Dec 12th, Mountain Madness Mondays and the Cellar Nightclub, host the Canadian premiere of Strapless Entertainment's "The Awakening". This is the 7th film from the snow skate film company based out of Lake Tahoe and proves to be their best to date.

The Awakening features riders pushing the limits of snow skating with first descents on real mountain terrain and some amazing never tricks most would't imagine possible on a snow skate. The entertainment value comes from watching something fresh and innovative and seeing the progression of something that has grown leaps and bounds from it's backyard beginnings.

Sean Davis isn't just the Director, Editor, Promo Guy for The Awakening, he also rides in the film as well. And not just the regular old , "look at me I'm the director riding in my film during the credits". He rips. We're not talking pop shuvs in the parking lot. First descents on a snow skate down powder covered shoots, is not as easy as it looks. In fact it doesn't look easy to begin with.

-this will be film number seven in the Strapless annual snowskate film library, we just keep wanting to grow with the sport and showcase its rawness.

How did you get into Snowskating?

-Ever since my first day snowboarding way back when I wanted to figure out a way to make it feel more like real skateboarding, but when the first double deck snowskate came out and I was able to take top to bottom runs at the local resort that is when I found that perfect tool to make my snow days feel just like skate days.

Is there a snowskate scene? Is it growing?

-There is a strong snowskate scene, and it seems that each area has a group or two, whether it is Washington's grunge, California's style, midwest flat landers, or Utah's powder saints. More and more you are seeing snowskaters posse up and with the resorts removing restrictions we are starting to see the snowskaters more often. Also the technology is really starting to grow which is allowing the tricks to grow which will greatly increase the sports popularity.

Why don't we see more snowskate action in the media(magazines, tv etc.)?

-Because the media only sees dollar signs and they under look snowskatings epicness because big companies are not strongly involved. But soon they will be forced to open there eyes a little wider and see that snowskating is here to stay and that it is worth there time.

What's next?
-Well we just keep doing what we are doing. This year the crew is getting full avalanche gear, seems that the powskate movement is growing, also we will be traveling to more urban locations with are new winch. Over all Strapless is not going anywhere and the support grows every year. Thanks to all who have helped.

Cypress Mountain announced today that tomorrow they will open for the start of the 2011-2012 season. Now before we all get our bindings in a bunch, let's remember that this is early season. SO don't expect to be charging through waist deep pillows of pow. The reality is that there will be lots of evil rocks and sticks just waiting to rip into that new board of yours. The experts here at Mountain Madness suggest you use your old board till things get covered. That way your not going to be crying when you get that devistating first ding.

SO for tonight at Mountain Madness we are going to amp up your stoke factor. We've got some new shred films for you to enjoy while a couple lucky partyers are gonna win some new wax for your sticks. CYPRESS MOUNTAIN OPENS TOMORROW - Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

We are absolutely stoked to have the EARLIEST OPENING DAY IN OUR HISTORY and to be the FIRST SKI AREA IN BRITISH COLUMBIA TO OPEN for the 2011/12 Snow Season!

Over the last week our Amazing Snowmaking Crew has turned 4.75 million gallons of water into 30 cm, or about one foot of snow, covering an area equivalent to 24 football fields on the north face of Black Mountain!! Our Great Grooming Crew has jumped in to spread the Man Made Snow deep over Upper Maelle Ricker’s Run (Upper Fork) and then fashioned a pretty nice “ski-out” through mid Jasey Jay (PGS) and on down to the bottom of Eagle Express. We have received about 12 cm of natural snow this morning and the snow continues to fall so we will hope for even better conditions tomorrow!

For our early start to the 2011/12 La Nina Winter Season tomorrow, we will have the Eagle Express Quad open FOR INTERMEDIATE AND EXPERT Skiers and Riders ONLY - accessing only the terrain noted above. All Skiers and Riders must stay within the described terrain as we will be actively working on trying to open more of the Eagle Express terrain for the weekend.

Full Day Adult Lift tickets will be $23.60, Youth $18.00, Senior $15.60 and Child $10.00 for tomorrow (afternoon rates start at 1:00 PM and are also 60% Off). PLUS 50% OFF SKI OR SNOWBOARD RENTALS.

We suggest that you purchase your Gold Medal Cards now (on sale until November 30th) to receive an additional 20% off these rates. Early season conditions exist with unmarked obstacles and closed areas and we will have services available tomorrow in the Cypress Creek Lodge at our Restaurants, Rental and Retail facilities. Snow school will not be available until our Green Zone terrain is open. No Shuttle Bus will be operating tomorrow - stay tuned for an updated schedule.

PARK RIDERS! – We have set up a starter Jib Park with a line of 6 or 7 hits that will be open tomorrow on Rider’s left off the top of Eagle Express -including a 20’ Flat Box, our new 20’ Round Bar Rail, our new 30’ Flat Box and a Corrugated Culvert – more details and hopefully photos to come on this later today!

Last Monday DJ Knowledge from Las Vegas returned to Mountain Madness and once again rocked the crowd. If you don't know who Knowledge is here's a little background on the party rockin machine from the desert

DJ Knowledge-

Most DJ's are barely worth remembering- KnowleDJ brings you a party to never forget. Other DJ's spin music- he does crazy ish. Like really crazy. When's the last time you heard an entire club sing the national anthem? Or had college girls, hipsters, thugs, and red necks on the same dance floor screaming for more? It's probably why he has such a massive following from his home in Vegas to over 50 cities; he headlines from coast to coast in more clubs in a year then other DJ's spin in a lifetime. How did he get so in demand? Have a listen to one of his legendary mixes to see for yourself. Partiers worldwide jam to his custom mind blowing mashes. His mixes inspire people to do everything from car dancing in Pinto's to doing the Egyptian in Peru. But forget his incredible club rocking skills. DJ CHRIS LAROQUE

Spending time as a child in countries such as France and America has given DJ Chris La Roque an irresistible edge. He brings his own unique flavor to the part every time, and keeps the crowd moving to an international vibe. His multi-cultured background has influenced his eclectic talents as he can rock any kind of party whether it be electro,mash up of Hip-hop, R&B, rock, Old school or House and has drops that range from Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, to Eminem. His DJ skills have been keeping people jumpin’ across the world for almost 2 decades, and his fluency in more than 3 languages allows him to completely understand the crowd screaming for more!

   DJ Chris started off rocking Washington D.C. by playing at various parties in the area while going to high school and university. He won the U.S Eastern DJ Championship in New York, which got him immediately hired at two different clubs, Club Ritz(D.C) and at Chapter 3(south-east D.C).   DJ Chris began playing at Howard University’s top events where he opened for many famous artists such as DJ Kid Capri, Funk Master Flex, Pete Rock, Mary J Blige, etc. Throughout the late nineties, DJ Chris continued to rock new venues in cities such as St. Paul, Minneapolis, Miami, New York, and D.C.

   In 2000, Warner Brothers Japan brought DJ Chris laroque to Tokyo, Japan where he worked with and produced several famous Japanese artists such as Zeebra, Hakim, Sugar Soul, Dreams Come True, Mondo Grosso, etc. Besides producing, he appeared regularly on two of Tokyo’s most popular radio shows, InterFM’s Joint One, and Super Dooper Jungle. He also made guest appearances on Shibuya FM and Tokyo FM. While living in Tokyo from 2000 to 2005 he spun at many clubs in Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo. He also was flown to Paris, France four times a year where he played at clubs such as Baindouche, and V.I.P, etc.   He even played twice at the Cannes Film Festival. Besides spinning at clubs he also opened for, and/or organized release parties for artists such as Lady gaga, Lauryn Hill, Janet Jackson, Redman, Method Man, Puff Daddy,Neyo, Jamiroquai, Will I Am, Black Eyed Peas etc. He also was the only guest DJ at Mt. Fuji Rock Festival 97’and 99’ where artists such as Eminem, Rage against the Machine, Prodigy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mos Def, and The Roots entertained.

   In 2001, DJ Chris exploded onto the scene shocking everybody by being the first and only foreigner to organize the most outrageous and successful HIPHOP MEETS HOUSE party Japan had ever seen. The ICE CREAM party was crazy! Not only was it off the hook in Tokyo, but people were screaming for it from as far as Sapporo, and Osaka too! This event was so huge it had to be held at 3 venues(club Harlem, Club Vuenos, and Club Asia). One venue would host live entertainers such as Lost Boyz, Methodman, Redman, Tony Touch, Rock Steady Crew, Cypress Hill, Nice and Smooth, etc; and the other venues had 4 of Tokyo’s top hip-hop and electro/house DJ’s spinning the crowd into a frenzy. Sponsors such as NIKE, PIKO, & SOLJAH also wanted to be a part of the action and besides wanting to sponsor him individually as an artist they also requested DJ Chris La Roque to co-ordinate fashion events that occurred simultaneously within the ICE CREAM party.

   In 2002 DJ Chris produced and released his first CD, “The Triangle” under the name Crown Lee.   The album sold 40,000 and the single sold 15,000. He released another single called “Two Many Stars” with guest appearances by Freddie Fox and Pete Rock.   DJ Chris was also featured several times in Japan’s #1 Hip-hop magazine “WOOFIN”, as a DJ/Artist/model. Next, DJ Chris jumped at the opportunity to spin regularly at Tokyo’s hottest new clubs LeNai (2002-2003) and Feria (2003-2004) where visiting international elite such as No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, Jay-Z, N-Sync, Pharell, and fashion supermodels from across the world get crazy. In 2002 he was flown to Canada to guest DJ at 2 events in Whistler and Vancouver. In 2003, he spun at the televised after party for Eminem & 50Cent in Paris, France and DuranDuran’s back in Tokyo within 24 hours. While being busy with all of the above DJ Chris created, produced and spun for a new and upcoming rock band CLAYFISH and released their single “Mass Hysteria”. He also appeared in music videos with his band and made guest appearances on several different Japanese TV programs.

Just when it seems like he couldn’t possibly do anymore, in 2004 DJ Chris took on a new creative endeavor by collaborating with an up and coming Tokyo designer Masaaki Asaka. Together they launched their new clothing line “Prince A” in Tokyo, Japan. “Prince A” will be hitting Europe (London/Paris) this spring of 2010, and Canada (Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal) this summer. He’s been spinning at Canadian clubs such as Guvernment, C lounge, Maro, Cheval, UltraSupperClub, This is London, Ame, etc. He was named official DJ for ET Canada, and spun with Wil. I. Am for Toronto Film Festival, and has done charity work such as the Rally for Kids with Cancer with Eva Longoria, SickKids, and teaching Troubled Youth.   Canada has beckoned the many talents of this unique individual and will be sure to reap the benefits of his presence. Whatever the task, DJ Chris La Roque has the talent, and he’ll get it done in the most spectacular way.
